Short facts about Ib

Years as a referee: Floorball since 2001 and Handball since 1982
-Hi Ib and glad to hear that you will be a part of this years referee team.
1. How many times have you been a referee in Gothia Innebandy Cup?
This is my second time as a referee in Gothia Innebandy Cup, but my colleague has been here before, both as a leader and a trainer. The two of us started to talk about Gothia Innebandy Cup a while back and did some research on the website and was glad to find out that one could apply there. We were eager to try something new and applied straight away. Our earlier experiences from Gothia Innebandy Cup are so good that we wanted to be a part of this year’s cup as well.
2. What is the best part of being a referee during the Gothia Innebandy Cup?
To be given the opportunity to meet so many lovely people from other parts of the world, who have one thing in common, floorball. It’s fantastic to see that thousands of people all come here to Gothenburg to participate in Gothia Innebandy Cup. To be given the opportunity to referee a game with players from foreign nations is something I look forward to as well.
3. Describe Gothia Innebandy Cup with three words.
Experience for life
4. Do you work as a referee back in Denmark?
I’m an active referee back in Denmark, but in Denmark being a referee is something you do as a hobby and in your spare time.
5. If, so at what level do you referee?
For 7 years I refereed the men’s highest series, but lately I have more and more focused on the local teams. I refer ladies division 1 and men’s division 2 and 3 as well.
6. What team back in Denmark do you root for?
Well I live in Frederikshavn, but I’m active in Strandby Tornados Floorball Club www.tornados.dk. So I guess I have to pick them. After last years cup I have been telling everyone back in Strandby Tornados about Gothia Innebandy Cup. My hope is to see at least one team from our club participate next year. Together with my colleague in Fredrikshavn Balckhawks we manage and organise referees for most of our home games back in Denmark.
7. What are you looking forward to the most this year?
To be able to catch a few good games in between refereeing, and to meet colleagues from around the world. I love sharing stories and experiences with colleagues from different nations. I’m also looking forward to the great experience that Gothia Innebandy Cup is and to be able to share my experience later on to others. Hopefully my stories inspire others to participate.
-Do you have any last things you would like to add?
-I would like to wish everyone a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.
