Slevik IBK makes their second year in Gothia Innebandy CupGothia Innebandy Cup has several Norwegian teams in next year’s edition of the tournament. One of them is Slevik Innebandyklubb, who is coming to Gothenburg for the second consecutive year.
Slevik IBK participated 2017 in the B14 class and after an initial loss in the group stage against Åsa IF, they won two and tied one to qualify for Playoff A. In the 1/16 finals they lost a hard-fought game against Öjaby Sport with 3-2. The team will return to Gothenburg in 2018 and now they are looking to improve in the B15 class.
The club is one of Norway’s largest with around 200 active players and both the women and men have celebrated great successes in the Norwegian championships in recent years. The youth teams also belong among the best in the country and Slevik’s 15-year-olds, who come to Gothenburg this winter, are in the top 5. In other words, it is a club that aims high but also sees the Gothia Innebandy Cup as a chance to progress.
“We come to the tournament to have fun and do our best. It’s challenging to meet many different teams and we want to learn as much as possible”, says one of the team coaches Alexander Lennander.
“The best thing about Gothia Innebandy Cup 2017 was the social community and not least the matches against very good opponents. The whole event was a good experience, especially the finals”, Alexander continues.
It’s about 2.5 hours and 23 miles between Slevik’s home town Onsøy in Fredrikstad and Gothenburg. Slevik IBK comes with its entire team of 16 players and 4 leaders and the goal is, according to Alexander, to have fun and to remember the tournament with a smile.
We at Gothia Innebandy Cup welcomes Slevik IBK to the tournament and wish the team good luck!
